Pastor Chris on the prophesy to the wind

Not long after the much-acclaimed Praise Night on Sunday, June 11th, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome suggested going through the following Bible verses:

“The hand of the Lord was upon me and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones… This is what the sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.” (Ezekiel 37:1-5)

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome then explained that believers have the power of God to change whatever circumstances they are facing in their lives.

“Are you aware that you can change hopeless situations and effect positive changes in your life through the creative power of the word of God in your mouth? It is through the gift of prophecy. You can change anything,” he stated.

The pastor then explained that to prophesy means to speak words of divine revelation and potency. These are words that have and give life, according to him.

“In our opening scripture, Ezekiel found himself in a valley full of dry bones, and the Lord asked him, ‘Can these bones live?’” he quoted.

“Ezekiel then responded by saying, ‘Lord, you alone can tell.’ You can all see that the overall situation was hopeless. But nevertheless, God said to Ezekiel, ‘Prophesy to these bones,’” Pastor Chris Oyakhilome said.

The pastor explained that God needed Ezekiel to cooperate with Him. Otherwise, these mere bones would not become living people.

Pastor Chris: “The Holy Spirit is our instructor”

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome then instructed believers to read the subsequent verses:

“So I prophesied as I was commanded: And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: But there was no breath in them.” (Ezekiel 37:7-8)

The pastor explained that Ezekiel prophesied as he was commanded. Yet, the very first thing God said would happen to the bones did not happen. There was no breath in them.

Ezekiel mentioned this fact to God and God said to him, “Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man.” (Ezekiel 37:9)

This is where Pastor Chris Oyakhilome pointed out a difference. Ezekiel was to prophesy to the wind now, not the bones. When he did, the Bible says, “Breath came into them, and they lived and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.” (Ezekiel 37:10)

“This is as profound as it is instructive,” the pastor claimed.

“Sometimes, a word of prophecy comes to us, and we are waiting for it to be fulfilled, and it does not happen. So, we think the prophecy was false,” he stated.

“But we never asked the Lord what next to do as Ezekiel did. Therefore, ask the Holy Spirit for the next step to take. The specific words to speak now. He is our instructor. He leads and guides us,” Pastor Chris Oyakhilome concluded.
