Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is the President of Christ Embassy, one of the biggest Christian churches in the world. He is also one of the most well-known and influential religious leaders in Nigeria.

The Nigerian minister founded Christ Embassy, or LoveWorld Inc. as it is also known as, in Lagos, Nigeria in 1987.

Over the years, Pastor Chris Oyakhlilome has captivated people all over the world. Today, Christ Embassy has over 100 branches all over the world, including in the United States, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Canada and South Africa.

As a result of that, he has sold out famous arenas in Europe, Africa and North America, including the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa the O2 Arena in London, the United Kingdom and the Black Star Square in Accra, Ghana.

The Pastor Chris Oyakhilome family

From birth, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has lived a Christian life in his home country, Nigeria.

He was born on December 7^th, 1963, in Edo State, Nigeria to parents who were both devout Christians.

His father, T.E. Oyakhilome, was one of the pioneers of the Assemblies of God Church in Benin City, Nigeria. Through the years, other of his family members have also come to work in churches.

Reverend Ken, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s brother, is the pastor of Christ Embassy’s branch in Houston, the United States and a member of the Christ Embassy Central Executive Council.

The Christ Embassy President’s sister, Kathy Woghiren, is the Director of the LoveWorld Music and Arts Ministry, the Director of the LoveWorld Creative Arts Academy and the Chairman of the LoveWorld Records Label as well as a songwriter.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has been blessed with two daughters: Charlene and Carissa Sharon Oyakhilome. Under the stage name CSO, the latter has become a successful recording artist and is part of the LoveWorld Music and Arts Ministry.

In 2021, Carissa Sharon Oyakhilome and her husband, Phillip Frimpong, made Pastor Chris Oyakhilome a grandfather, as their daughter, Arielle Rachelle-Marise Frimpong, was born.

Christ Embassy comes to life

Back in the day, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome studied at Edo College and got a scholarship to study architecture at Bendel State University.

As he was studying, he also wanted to spread the word of God. Therefore, he founded the student fellowship organization Youth for Christ, which he was the leader of.

The organization quickly became the most popular student fellowship group on campus, as students were flocking to it.

In the end, Youth for Christ served as the foundation of the future Christ Embassy, which was established in 1987.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s ministry quickly embraced the new technological opportunities at the time and founded several tv stations that still run today.

One of them is LoveWorldSAT. It was the first African Christian tv station that broadcasted to the rest of the world 24/7.

One of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s newest tv channels is LoveWorld USA, which he established with his friend Pastor Benny Hinn in 2017.

Pastor Chris stirs hope in dark times

Since Pastor Chris Oyakhilome founded Christ Embassy, he has held multiple live events around the world, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he has stayed in Nigeria for the past years.

During the years that the world has dealt with COVID-19, the pastor has stirred hope in his congregation by initiating various online activities.

It began on March 27th, 2020, when he and Pastor Benny Hinn hosted a Global Day of Prayer against the coronavirus.

Billions of online viewers were watching it from home, and the Nigerian pastor has hosted several other Global Days of Prayer since. A new one is scheduled to start on Thursday, December 1^st.

Between the prayer days, the LoveWorld President has hosted his popular “Your LoveWorld with Pastor Chris” specials. Those shows yielded new episodes every day for a week at a time.
