0Pastor Chris explains the significance of conquering yourself
While Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is preparing for the fifth edition of Global Ministers’ Classroom, let us remember some of his interpretations of Bible verses. He once brought up the following one:
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36-37)
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome explained that throughout history, there have been hundreds of well-known leaders who subdued other men.
“The whole world was subject to them; they had everything under their tyranny. Some were even revered and placed by others in the class of God,” he said.
“But Jesus said, ‘For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?’ (Mark 8:36-37). Never pride yourself in your ability to subdue or dominate others; rather, learn to use your authority over yourself,” he added.
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome added that when you conquer yourself, you always win. When you say to yourself, “I am going to only do and say the right thing,” keep that promise throughout your life.
Pastor Chris: “He only tells you to do what you have the capacity to do”
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome continued explaining that when your words and actions are under your charge, consciously subjected to God’s word, then you are ready for true success.
“When you tell yourself, ‘Nothing filthy will come out of me’ and consciously ensure such a lifestyle through the word, that is the way to victory,” he stated.
“Refuse to give vent or expression to satanic manifestations such as anger, hatred, bitterness, jealousy and envy. Be sure that only the blessings, grace and compassion of Jesus are seen and experienced by everyone around you,” he added.
Eventually, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome said that believers should make the choice that only His love and works of righteousness will effuse from them to their world.
Also, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome mentioned that the Bible is replete with the admonition for people not to fear.
“If we could not stay without being afraid and anxious, the scriptures would not tell us not to fear or to refuse anxiety. God knows you could live without anxiety, panic attacks and fear. That is why He said for you not to fear or be anxious. He only tells you to do what you have the capacity to do,” he explained.
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome then expressed that the knowledge of the word of God is the beginning of one’s deliverance from fear and anxiety.
“You cannot have faith in the word of God if you do not know the word. Your faith grows with the knowledge of the word. As faith is stirred in your spirit, fear is dispelled,” the pastor said.
